With over 34 billion aluminium cans produced annually, Brazil’s can industry is making bold strides toward greater sustainability and a game-changing innovation from Henkel. Unveiled at the Latamcan 2025 fair in Atibaia (SP), Henkel’s new Bonderite C-IC 72003 Pre-Cleaner (70203) is setting a new standard for eco-friendly can production.
This cutting-edge solution slashes the washing process temperature from the conventional 60 °C down to just 50 °C, dramatically cutting energy use while maintaining performance. The impact? A cleaner, greener production line.
“Brazil recycles 100 per cent of the cans that are produced in the country. Having a more sustainable process in production also means keeping up with the sector’s evolution, not to mention that this reduces costs and risks for people, since working at lower temperatures is safer,” said Jeferson Segantini, Sales Manager at Henkel.
By operating at lower temperatures, the technology significantly reduces natural resource consumption, enhances worker safety, and lowers environmental impact. Henkel reports potential gas savings of up to 50 per cent and water use reductions ranging from 5 per cent to 20 per cent, a win for both sustainability and cost efficiency.
Henkel’s Bonderite C-IC 72003 is a low-temperature pre-cleaner developed for aluminium beverage cans, specifically for use in spray systems. Operating at a 30 per cent lower temperature, it significantly cuts energy consumption and reduces carbon emissions. Its low-foaming formulation enhances water efficiency and minimizes foam carryover, contributing to a more sustainable and streamlined cleaning process.
