Henan opts to join 28 cities list of winter aluminium production cuts

<p>Henan Province has willingly opted to join aluminium production cut during winter season. For this, Henan provincial government has issued a notice in which it announced intention to add Luoyang, Pingdingshan and Sanmenxia into the list of 28 cities winter production cuts in China, SMM reported.</p>

<p>Henan province’s decision is likely to affect aluminium production more than it was anticipated. The effect is expected to come in the range of 10-20%.</p>
<p>In March this year, China ordered aluminium producers to curtain their production capacity in 28 cities during winter months to tackle air quality in the country's polluted cities.</p>

<p>The country ordered to slash production capacity on aluminium by more than 30 percent, according to the order issued by authorities including the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) and the National Development and Reform Commission.</p>
