Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has reportedly certified Gränges Konin SA with dual certification. As per the report on October 20, ASI has acknowledged the company with both the Performance Standard V3 (2022) and Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V2 (2022) certifications for designing and manufacturing rolled aluminium strips and sheets at Gränges Konin SA facility in Konin, Poland. This certification marks the completion of Granges’ goal of achieving certification at all its aluminium rolling and recycling sites.
Gränges Konin SA manufactures heat exchanger materials, construction sheets, battery casing materials, closure & packaging materials, and common alloys that serve various industries, including building & construction, automotive, packaging and consumer electronics. The company has an annual production capacity of 140,000 tonnes.
The ASI Performance Standard V3 and Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V2 certifications were launched in May 2022, following a multi-year revision process.
Gränges Konin SA got the certifications after an independent, third-party audit by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.
On receiving the certification, Fredrik Spens, President, Gränges Europe, said: “The Konin operations have been part of Gränges since 2020. Much has been done in a short time to adapt the business to Gränges’ ambitious goals for sustainability in the entire value chain. Having all aluminium rolling and recycling facilities certified against ASI strengthens Gränges’ competitiveness and attractiveness to customers globally.”
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said: “We congratulate Gränges for achieving dual ASI Certification at their Gränges Konin SA facility, and by extension achieving certification at all their aluminium rolling and recycling facilities. As aluminium gains increasing prominence in the building and construction, automotive, and packaging industries, the significance of responsible production, sourcing, and distribution of aluminium rolled products continues to grow. Gränges’ Konin facility, through the attainment of dual ASI Certification, offers downstream customers the assurance of sourcing responsibly produced aluminium products.”
