Global Aluminum Market in 482,000-ton Surplus

The global aluminum market was in surplus by 482,000 metric tons in the first four months of the year, the World Bureau of Metal Statistics said Wednesday.
This compares with a surplus of 1.729 million tons over the whole of 2011.
Global demand for primary aluminum rose by 4.95% from the year-earlier period in January to April, the WBMS said, without citing specific figures.
Demand for primary aluminum in April was 3.583 million tons and production was 3.692 million tons, it said.
