
According to the latest data published by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS), global primary aluminium market recorded a deficit at the end of the first seven months of 2017.

The market recorded a deficit of 1.38 million tonnes during January-July, up from 751,000 tonnes of deficit in the whole of 2016.
The WBMS report also states that the global demand for primary aluminium was recorded at 35.93 million tonnes during the first seven months of this year, from 33.71 million tonnes a year ago.
Previous reports had stated that aluminium supply worldwide was in a deficit of 1.07 million tonnes during the first six months of 2017, from a deficit of 1.1 million tonnes for the whole of 2016.
