Germany’s May aluminium semi-finished exports to the US decline 34% from April’s export volume
Germany’s exports of aluminium semi-finished products (plates, sheets, bars, etc.) to the US came in at 3,370 tonnes in May 2020, with a year-on-year decrease of 70%.Germany had exported 11,200 tonnes in May 2019, according to the latest Mineral Industry Survey report from the US Geological Survey. Aluminium semi-finished exports reduced by 34% from April’s export volume of 5,090 tonnes.
In the first five months of 2020, exports of semi-finished to the US dropped 34.38% from the same period a year earlier. Exports stood at 27,100 tonnes in January-May as compared to 41,300 tonnes in May 2019.

Germany exported 27,700 tonnes of total aluminium including scrap to the US in the first five months of 2020, a decrease of 35% from 42,800 tonnes in the first five months of 2019. In May, exports stood at 3,450 tonnes, a decrease of 69.47% from 11,300 tonnes in May 2019 and 34.03% from 5,230 tonnes in April 2020.
