Automobile innovators, GAC Design has released the look of its latest concept car known as the GAC Barchetta, an all-electric sports car that flaunts a flat 2D design and no upward protruding hood. The car displays a flat design and when parked resembles a table top having a strong aluminium constitution.
The chassis of the GAC Barchetta has been flattened with batteries that power the car being embedded in the car’s structure. The shiny body of the car has been comprised of 100% recyclable aluminium. Moreover, the company used the non-ferrous material to compose the car’s structure as it is extremely lightweight, which would help the car in swift movement.
This utopian car resembles vehicles shown in Sci-fi films released in the 90s. With aluminium wheels that are attached to the outlook of the car, the company claims that GAC Barchetta has been designated to emphasise simplicity and efficiency.
Aluminium is a malleable non-ferrous material that can be recycled infinitely. These properties are driving a huge number of automobile brands to complete a shift to aluminium as the raw material for their car bodies, since it is eco-friendly and creates a circular economy. Moreover, aluminium has a shiny outlook that reminds us of space and evokes a futuristic undertone.
The car has a drive-by-wire steering wheel and the seats have been derived out of recycled plastic materials. With all of these sustainability elements, the GAC Barchetta poses as an ultra-modern automobile. The seats of the car are attached with a shell weighing 3kgs only, and the tension in its straps acts as strong support points providing stability, as sources recalled.
Barchetta has been based on Italian car prototypes of the same pattern, along with some inspirations from in-house products of GAC Design. The design team that assembled the car refers to it as a ‘timeless yet very distinctive’ vehicle.
Though established as far back in 2006, the company recently inaugurated a studio in Milan, Italy, which is the heart of the global automobile sector. GAC Design has continuously created exclusive automobile prototypes since its inception. The Brand claims: "Our global design network includes studios in Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Los Angeles.”
