Aluminium has become a material of choice in the world of mechanical and custom keyboards, valued for its strength, durability, and premium feel. Its rigid structure reduces flex during typing, improving accuracy and stability, while its resistance to scratches, dents, and corrosion ensures a longer product lifespan.

Each keyboard case typically uses between 700 grams and just under 1 kilogram of aluminium, depending on the layout and any added metal weights.
The metal’s ability to dissipate heat also supports long-term performance, and its polished or anodised finishes add to the visual appeal. Enthusiasts often appreciate aluminium’s influence on acoustics, as its stiffness can produce a clean, resonant typing sound.
Tapping into these advantages, YUNZII has unveiled the AL98, a 96 per cent layout mechanical gaming keyboard built entirely from CNC-machined aluminium. Measuring 407.44 mm × 136.94 mm × 44.07 mm and weighing 2,175 g, the AL98 uses a gasket-mounted design to enhance both durability and sound. It offers three connectivity options — Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4 GHz wireless, and USB-C — powered by an 8,000 mAh battery for extended wireless use.
The AL98 features a hot-swappable PCB compatible with both 3-pin and 5-pin switches, shipping with pre-lubed linear Milk V2 or Cocoa Cream V2 switches and double-shot PBT Cherry profile keycaps.
A south-facing RGB system provides 16.8 million colours with dynamic lighting, while QMK/VIA support allows full key remapping and macro programming. For gamers, ultra-low latency, full N-key rollover, and anti-ghosting technology ensure optimal performance. Available in white, black, or pink, the AL98 is priced at USD 109.99 on YUNZII’s website.
