According to the available export-import data, France in 2019 is likely to import 231,397 tonnes of aluminium bar rods and profiles, compared to the estimated import volume of 268,694 tonnes in 2018. This represents a drop by 13 per cent after a year-on-year rise in 2018, as the aluminium bar rods and profile import volume by France in 2017 was at 246,326 tonnes. Even the year 2017 had seen a Y-o-Y rise as the import in its previous year was at 231,455 tonnes.

In consequence to the drop in import volume in 2019, the import value is estimated to stand low as well, according to the data. The value of 231,397 tonnes of imported aluminium bar rods and profiles is likely to be at US$ 762 million, down 13 per cent from US$ 876 million in 2018. In 2016 and 2017, on the other hand, the import values by France were at US$ 749 million and US$ 828 million, respectively. This shows that the year 2019 is estimated to witness a drop in France’s aluminium bar rods and profiles import after two consecutive year-on-year rises.

Spain is likely to be the leading exporter of aluminium bar rods and profiles to France. The country is estimated to export 93,650 tonnes at the value of US$292 million. Germany and Belgium are expected to be the next two primary exporters who would likely send across 24,040 tonnes at US$ 112 million and 19,300 tonnes at US$ 54 million of aluminium bar rods and profiles to France, respectively.
