Former Sebi chairman M Damodaran joins Hindalco board as independent director

Former Sebi Chairman M Damodaran has joined the Hindalco Industries Board as an independent additional director, the aluminium maker said in a regulatory filing today.
The existing 10-member Board of the Aditya Birla Group flagship is chaired by Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. The appointment of Damodaran would now take the tally to 11.
Former Chairman of the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), Damodaran, would bring in both financial and administrative expertise to Hindalco, which is the largest aluminium rolling company in the world, the company said.
An IAS officer of the Manipur-Tripura cadre, Damodaran was also the Chairman of UTI and the chief secretary of the Tripura government. He has over 30 years of experience in financial services and public sector enterprises.
