Ford to continue with aluminium in 2018 Ford Expedition

People and consumers were apprehensive when Ford announced that they would be making Ford F-150 with an all-aluminium body. They were apprehensive about the performance of aluminium in comparison to tough steel. Ford proved everyone wrong with exceptional sales performance and after sales performance.

Since the use of an aluminium bed did not affect the functionality of the Ford F-150, Ford is ready to take the next step and planning to have more upcoming models fitted with aluminium bodies. It is already been in the news that the upcoming 2018 Ford Expedition might also be coming in with the same aluminium upgrade. The switch to aluminium would not only reduce the overall weight of the vehicle but also improve its performance and fuel economy.

Cost is one factor which may be the flipside of using aluminium in the 2018 Ford Expedition, as the retail price of the aluminium upgrade would be more. However, it is said that the Expedition’s asking price is high enough that they will be able to cover the additional costs without increasing the price of the vehicle.
