First transmission successful: Baotou Aluminum’s Damaoqi new energy project unlocks new milestone

The Damaoqi Project Department of Baotou Aluminum Industry recently achieved a significant milestone. The 220kV booster station of the No. 2 Scenery Power Station was successfully commissioned in a single attempt. By the next few days, the station had successfully energised two main transformers and four sections of 35kV buses, signalling the first successful transmission for the 1.2-million-kilowatt new energy project in Damaoqi.

This achievement will increase the share of green electricity at Baotou Aluminum to over 40 per cent, establishing a crucial foundation for the company's pursuit of green, low-carbon, and high-quality development. It will also strengthen its competitive edge and contribute significantly to building a sustainable, low-carbon "New Chinalco."

The Damaoqi 1.2-million-kilowatt project reflects Baotou Aluminum's commitment to producing clean aluminium for a low-carbon future. It is a pivotal step in Chinalco's strategy to drive energy transformation and foster sustainable, high-quality development within the aluminium industry.

This ambitious project leverages Damaoqi's abundant and high-quality wind and solar energy resources. By integrating renewable energy generation with the stable energy demands of electrolytic aluminium production and the peak-shaving capabilities of self-supplied thermal power, the initiative aims to harmonise new energy power generation with aluminium smelting processes.
