Fast Company recognizes Ball aluminium cup in the 2020 World Changing Ideas Awards

Fast Company has selected Ball aluminium cup as the winner in the consumer products category.  Ball Corporation's aluminium cup has been recognized in Fast Company's 2020 World Changing Ideas Awards. The awards, now in its fourth year, honour products, concepts, companies, policies, and designs that are pursuing innovation for the good of society and the planet.

"We are honored that Fast Company recognized the Ball Aluminum Cup™ as a world changing idea," said Daniel W. Fisher, senior vice president and chief operating officer, Global Beverage Packaging. "We designed the cup to provide consumers with a better, more sustainable way to enjoy their favourite beverages while helping to alleviate pollution associated with single-use plastic cups. We look forward to ramping up production of the aluminum cup later this year and eventually expanding its adoption to bars, breweries and retail locations across the United States."

Ball launched the U.S. pilot of its infinitely recyclable aluminium cups in September 2019.  The company created aluminium cups as an alternative to plastic cups. The aluminium cup can be recycled an infinite number of times without losing quality.

A limited supply of aluminium cups is being produced through 2020 for use in areas where plastic cups are common, including entertainment venues and major concessionaires, Ball said. In October, the company broke ground on its first aluminium cups manufacturing plant in Rome, Ga.
