Romania’s aluminium can recycling rate reaches 80.5% in first nine months of 2026

Romania’s aluminium can recycling rate increased to 80.5 per cent in the first nine months of 2026, compared with 75 per cent in the same period last year, according to data published by RetuRO, the administrator of the country’s Deposit Return System (DRS), and analysed by Every Can Counts. The number of aluminium cans returned between January and September was 6.3 per cent higher than in the corresponding period of 2025. The return rate also improved to 85 per cent from 82 per cent a year earlier. Aluminium cans were the only packaging category to record growth in the first nine months of 2026, as the total number of deposit-bearing containers placed on the market declined by 2.4 per cent. The number of cans placed on the market increased by 2 per cent, while plastic and glass packaging...

Hyundai accelerates electric future with $1.52 billion investment in South Korea

The South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer Hyundai Motors is reinforcing its commitment to green transportation by allocating $1.52 billion towards establishing an electric vehicle production facility in Ulsan, South Korea. This strategic move contrasts with the decisions of competitors such as General Motors, Ford, and Honda, who are scaling back certain electric vehicle initiatives due to perceived fluctuation in demand, as a global news agency reports. The substantial investment by Hyundai appears well-positioned for success, considering the growing traction of electric vehicles in the global market. In 2022, electric vehicles accounted for 10 per cent of new car sales worldwide, marking a significant increase. The New York Times highlights that the market share of electric...

Discover the benefits of aluminium scaffolding in modern construction

In the construction industry, ‘scaffolding’ is constantly used in daily operations. Scaffolds, typically temporary structures, serve as elevated work platforms for various construction tasks. Scaffoldings refer to the specific materials or components used to construct these towers, providing a stable platform for workers engaged in construction, repairs, and painting on building surfaces. The construction industry is fiercely competitive today, and traditional options like galvanized steel scaffolding are becoming less practical. Steel, while durable, is prone to rust and is heavy, making transportation and erection labour-intensive. Recognising the need for smarter solutions, leading construction companies are increasingly turning to lightweight and corrosion-resistant aluminium...

CCL Container introduces 100% recyclable aluminium wine bottles

CCL Container, a recyclable aluminium packaging manufacturer based in North America, has launched new aluminium bottles that look like conventional wine bottles. The new aluminium bottle range is designed with CCL Container’s BodyShapes shaping technology. The bottles are 750 ml in size and are resealable with threaded caps meant to keep wine fresh. Since the bottles are made of aluminium, they have higher thermal conductivity and greater chill retention than glass or plastic. Therefore, the bottles can cool quickly and stay cooler for a more extended period of time. Also, owing to aluminium, the bottles weigh less than glass bottles, and thus, they are less expensive to ship. The threading in the cap also does not contain plastic. The entire bottle is made from virgin aluminium and is...

A green bond that lasts forever: SureWeld sources Capral’s low carbon aluminium for its trailers

Capral has been a reliable supplier of premium quality aluminium to SureWeld for its aluminium trailers and ramps. SureWeld, which started as a small welding shop in 1976, primarily focused on aluminium ramps. In 2008, SureWeld introduced aluminium trailers to cater to the demand for lightweight trailers that could carry heavy plant equipment and withstand the challenges of difficult terrains. To achieve this, SureWeld's sales manager, Gareth Hansen, turned to aluminium as the ideal material to reduce the weight of their trailers. The Sales Manager reported: "We found that the...
