Wonmin Park, the Korean designer, has recently launched a new collection of limited-edition tables (his signature) in patinated aluminium, another experiment in his furniture line. The collection that is comprised of high and low tables is being presented by Carpenters Workshop Gallery at PAD this week. ‘I like resin because of its colour, transparency and texture, but it is not a strong material,’ says Park. ‘That’s why I needed to work with it in a certain form. Tankoa Yachts, an Italian builder of steel and aluminium luxury mega yachts, announced that the company will construct a new 50-meter hybrid superyacht called Project 'Elettra'. The company made an announcement on 29 September at the Monaco Yacht Show 2017. All-aluminium yacht is expected to be launched in 2019. Exterior and interior design will be done by Francesco Paszkowski and Studio Francesco Rogantin respectively. The vessel will accommodate up to 12 guest split between six cabins. Project Elettra will run at a maximum speed of 18 knots. United Wagon Co. in Russia has obtained certification for its Type 19-9549-02 grain hopper wagon. This particular wagon uses high-strength aluminium alloy in its roof, which cuts its weight by more than 1 tonne in comparison to the steel model. It also offers corrosion resistance and increases the load capacity of the wagon. This aluminium alloy design increases the capacity of the 25 tonne axle load wagon to 77 tonnes or 120 m3. Kian Joo Can Factory, aluminium can manufacturer in Malaysia, said that the company secured $60 million as debt investment in order to support its manufacturing facilities in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone near Yangon, Myanmar. The two plants will manufacture aluminium and tin cans for paints and beverage industry. The company had invested $23.5 million to build the manufacturing facilities.
