End-user weekly recap: Aluminium can demand drives Ball Corporation to land in Peru; Ev Dynamics to build Hong Kong’s first electric bus featuring aluminium alloy body frame

The aluminium end-user sector showed great progress this week. Ball Corporation announced the opening of a new plant in Peru, a South American nation, where consumption of canned drinks has been increasing considerably in the last few years and now with this investment, Ball will respond to the market more solidly and be closer to the customers in the country. While in Hong Kong, the production of the electric bus has been commissioned under a new purchase agreement between the Hong Kong Productivity Council and Ev Dynamics. This new bus will have a light aluminium alloy body frame with an immensely capable traction motor system.

Colorado-based Ball Corporation is extending its activities in South America with a new production facility in Chilca, Peru. The beverage can manufacturer has estimated a production capacity of more than 1 billion aluminium cans each year and will start commercial supply by 2023.

Ev Dynamics (Holdings) Limited, China’s primary supplier of new energy commercial vehicles bagged another purchase order from the Hong Kong Productivity Council to provide a fully electric bus for a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Hong Kong. This agreement succeeds two prior arrangements of the company with the Hong Kong Airport Authority and the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society.

SuperAlloy Industrial (SAI), the largest manufacturer of forged aluminium wheels was successfully registered with the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) as a Production and Transformation member. The company has gradually grown over the last twenty years, while in 2011 SAI extended its product inventory by introducing a new department, especially for precision engineering and production of automobile suspension parts and components.

According to a recent report, the Research Designs & Standards Organisation under the Ministry of Railways of the government of India shared design specifications with the railway board for 100 light aluminium coaches based on the Train-18 concept to enable comfortable travel in the shortest possible time between major cities of the country.

World of Aluminium extrusion

Altech Chemicals signed an agreement of contract with the German developer Kuttner GmbH aiming to constitute high purity alumina or ‘HPA’ coating pilot plant in Saxony, a German state.
