
The economy of Egypt has weakened mostly in un-free category for more than two decades. Growth of GDP over the past five years, however, has been healthy. The construction and energy sectors are the main engines of growth. The disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic started in Egypt in March 2020 and has since interrupted a period of macroeconomic stability, characterized by relatively high growth, improved fiscal accounts, and a comfortable level of foreign reserves.

The country of Pyramids export of aluminium scrap during 2018-19 has been recorded with 6691 tonnes and the revenue generated during the phase remained at $9.18 million. The export for 2020 is marked to reach at 3860 tonnes and the earnings to stand at $4.22 million. However, when the export volume and earnings of 2020 get added with the previous two years, it signifies 10,551 tonnes and $13.40 million respectively.
In 2018, the aluminium scrap export of Egypt remained at 2710 tonnes and the earning stood at $3.88 million, whereas in 2019 the export saw growth by 46.90%, as the export volume rose to 3981tonnes and earnings climbed to $5.30 million.
The export for 2020 has been analysed with a marginal dip by 3.03%, as the export of aluminium scrap to fall at 3860 and earnings also to drop and remain at $4.22 million.
France remains the importer of Egypt’s aluminium scrap however India, Belgium and Taiwan take part as a minor partner.
