The project costing around US41.9 billion initially will be placed before many global companies including UC RUSAL for discussion.
The integrated aluminium smelter will use electricity from the Santiago River hydroelectric plant only after ensuring adequate power supply to various regions of Latin America.
Campana visited the Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) headquarters in Jebel Ali last November, where he was received by top officials from the aluminium company. The two sides discussed ways to develop and strengthen economic and trade relations as well as investment cooperation between the two nations.
Campana also referred to his country’s interest in exchanging knowledge and experience with the UAE in field of infrastructure development, during the visit.
The Latin American country, which has embarked on an ambitious US$34bn “Invest Ecuador” global campaign, is expecting big investments from Qatar in sectors like oil, SEZ, mining and metal manufacturing sector and hospitality.
