Ducati Diavel V4 features an aluminium monocoque chassis much lighter than steel

EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Ducati has unleashed its latest Diavel V4 featuring a Bologna’s V4 Granturismo engine, along with an aluminium monocoque frame that has significantly reduced the motorcycle's weight. Ducati has redesigned the vehicle with substantial change in the styling and chassis design for 2023.

Although there has been a transformation from two cylinders to four, surprisingly enough, the Diavel V4 has a 13 kg reduced weightage, solely due to the aluminium monocoque chassis that saves almost 8 kg.

In place of the steel trellis in the prevailing Diavel model, Ducati has utilised the non-ferrous metal, aluminium, to create the skeleton of the motorcycle. The aluminium monocoque chassis comes seamlessly hooked with the cylinder heads.

Although the hind subframe is a steel trellis unit, the swingarm is a single-sided cast aluminium unit.

If the design is considered, the new V4 is undoubtedly a Diavel since it has a robust tank, a scooped seat with a sleek tail section, huge air vents on either side of the headlamp and a large rear tyre with a hugger plus a single-sided swingarm.

The other noteworthy changes to the latest Ducati Diavel V4 include a new LED headlight with C-shaped LED DRLs and two-tone alloys with a diamond-cut effect. At the same time, the rear light has been studded with small LEDs under the tail section, which is influenced by the C-shaped pattern of the DRLs front.

Future of Aluminium in Transportation Sector

The front brake flaunts dual Brembo Stylema four-piston callipers and 330mm discs, while the rear end burns a two-piston calliper and a single 265mm disc. Moreover, the five-spoke cast alloy wheels come engulfed in Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres.
