Novelis reported a 20 per cent year-on-year increase in adjusted EBITDA to USD 508 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, while rolled product shipments declined 2 per cent to 919,000 tonnes. Net sales rose 25 per cent to USD 5.9 billion from USD 4.7 billion in the corresponding quarter last year, mainly due to higher average aluminium prices. Higher shipments of beverage packaging and aerospace products were partly offset by lower volumes in automotive and speciality products. Fire officials in Mount Airy are trying to determine what sparked a 2-alarm fire, Tuesday evening. The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company responded to Phase, Inc., a sheet metal fabrication shop in the 1600 block of Back Acre Circle in response to call call for service. Once the first crews arrived at the sheet metal fabrication warehouse, workers told them that there was aluminum dust that had caught on fire. Since aluminum dust is a metal, firefighters could not put the fire out with just water, instead they were required to use a 'Class D' extinguisher which is used to put out fires involving metals. Crews were forced to contain the fire and let it burn itself out. Due to the heat, the intensity of the fire and the potential for explosion fire crews did call a second alarm. All together...
