Germany and France share one of Europe’s busiest downstream aluminium corridors, and the metal flows in both directions. In the first seven months of 2026, aluminium flat rolled products (FRP), which cover aluminium plates, sheets and strips (HS code: 7606), as well as aluminium foil (HS code: 7607), crossed the border each way, amounting to a total of around USD 692 million. However, the bilateral trade flow is tilted towards Germany, which remains France’s largest FRP supplier. Nonetheless, the inter-dependence remains as the countries do exchange the same products but engage in cross-border trade of specialised high-value products and alloys, feeding the demand on either side. The trade figures for January–July 2026, as compiled from the International Trade Administration, highlight...

Guido Aufdemkamp, director of communication, told FoodProductionDaily.com around 75% of European production is used for packaging and household foil. “Despite the economic uncertainty in Europe we still see an increase which is good news. The food...

Hulamin (HLM) said on Tuesday it had entered into an agreement with Bevcan (a division of Nampak Limited) to supply aluminium sheet for the manufacture of aluminium bodied beverage cans. Deliveries are expected to increase to 14‚000 tons by 2015‚ in addition to the can end and tab stock Hulamin currently supplies. The conversion of the can body to aluminium sheet in Southern Africa is a significant step in growing Hulamin’s local sales. The majority of beverage cans globally are made from aluminium‚ partly due to their light weight‚ corrosion resistance and ability to be cooled rapidly‚ and also because aluminium cans are the most successfully recycled packaging product. Hulamin said it is considering an appropriate investment in recycling infrastructure to procure used beverage cans and...

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, D Bhattacharya, managing director of Hindalco says aluminium is kicking in profitability even today. "Aluminium will come back to its old glory. Even today aluminium business in Hindalco is perhaps the best, most profitable in the world. Our endeavour is to come back to the odd levels, which was even higher," he adds. According to him one of the negative factors to affect the second quarter earnings is that Hindalco had a production loss of 11 percent. “It was because of grid failure and dyke breach because of the rain in Hirakud. These two factors are behind us. So, I believe that by Q3 itself we should get to that level. I have no doubt of Q4, we will not only catch up, but will improve,” he says. It was a disappointing second quarter for the world's...

Aleris International Inc. has reported improved third-quarter earnings despite lower sales compared to a year earlier. The producer of rolled aluminum products and aluminum recycler said its net income in the quarter rose 18%, to $33 million from $28 million. Sales at Aleris fell 13%, to $1.08 billion from nearly $1.25 bilion. Aleris said an improved product mix resulting from higher demand from the company's aerospace and automotive market segments, higher North American building and construction volumes, and a lower percentage of recycling toll volumes partially offset the negative impact of a 20% decline in London Metal Exchange prices, tighter metal spreads, a stronger U.S. dollar and weaker regional European demand. Aleris said its third quarter 2012 net income was helped by a $22...

Elevate aluminium systems were used for the doors and windows at a contemporary home situated in the foothills of Mt Wellington, Tasmania on a steep and spectacular 3.8 hectare ex-quarry property. According to Building Designer, Mike Cleaver, the clients required a contemporary home with light-filled spaces that integrated sustainable design principles with the ability to be carbon neutral into the future. Being a former quarry site, the property afforded a number of challenges and opportunities. The design concept was to bunker the home deep into the quarry site, allowing it to seemingly emerge from the hillside and connect with the natural environment. The rear roof is deliberately pitched just above ground level with dual roof planes reaching up to the northern sun and mountain views....

Japan's largest aluminum diecaster Aisin Seiki Wednesday posted consolidated sales revenue of Yen 1.3 billion ($16 million) for the six months to September 30, up 27.1% year on year. The company kept its full year sales forecast unchanged at Yen 2.5 billion, but revised down its full year net profit forecast. Aisin's April-September sales rose as Japanese automakers increased production, particularly at overseas plants, a company spokesman said. Toyota Motor, which accounted for 66.2% of Aisin's April-September sales, produced 2.6 million passenger vehicles at overseas plants in the period, up 38.1% year on year. However, a recent spike in geopolitical tension between Japan and China has slowed sales of Japanese cars in China, and this is likely to affect Aisin's earnings in the second...

Manufacturing components for the wind turbine industry have certainly come along way. With cost and efficiency driving concerns to the customer, manufactures have had to raise the bar to stay competitive. Hi Tech Controls is carying a new Flexible Aluminum POWERLINE ALU. This diesel locomotive (DLO) power cable is made of finely – stranded aluminum, making it much more flexible and easier to work with than its competition. Since Aluminums tendency to break is much lower, the cables reliability increased and the chance of power disruptions decrease due to damage caused by bending. The instillation advantage of the flexible Powerline ALU is that one length of cable can run from behind the drip loop in the down tower area directly to the inverter in the power base, reducing the splice count,...

The European Union imposed five-year tariffs on aluminum radiators from China to help Italian and Polish producers compete with cheaper imports. The duties as high as 61.4 percent punish Chinese exporters such as Zhejiang Guangying Machinery Co. for selling the radiators in the EU below cost, a practice known as dumping. European manufacturers including Italy’s Fondital SpA and Poland’s Armatura Krakow SA (ARM) have suffered “material injury” as a result of dumped imports from China, the 27-nation EU said today in Luxembourg. The five-year levies follow provisional measures introduced in May and will take effect after publication in the Official Journal by Nov. 11. Chinese exporters expanded their combined share of the EU market for aluminum radiators to 24 percent in the 12 months...
