Ford has produced more than 5,000 large aluminium unicastings at its Shelbyville Technical Center as it advances manufacturing preparations for the Fathom midsize electric truck, scheduled to launch in 2027. The castings are being used for process testing and prototype assembly at the company's Louisville Assembly Plant. China’s aluminium extrusion producers operating rates increased marginally month-on-month to 63.10 per cent in November 2020, while operating rates at industrial extrusion producers grew 2.98 percentage points to 69.68 per cent but fell at construction extrusion producers slightly to 61.84 per cent. The new facility will increase the company’s production capacity by 85,000 tonnes per year in the medium term, Alcomet said in a stock exchange filing.
