The American industrial aluminium company, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, Novelis, which is also a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries has declared its investment plan of more than $30 million for building a new continuous annealing line at its Plettenberg-Ohle facility in Germany. The company that is eyeing to become one of the world's leading suppliers of 99.99% (4N) high purity alumina (HPA) (Al2O3), Altech Chemicals has described its feasibility study for its battery materials coating plant to be ‘outstanding’ and ‘highly positive’.

Vedanta Limited slightly expanded its aluminium products and aluminium ingot prices on Friday, April 15, following a sharp cut of INR 13,000 per tonne on April 12. Since the latest increase, Vedanta is selling its aluminium wire rod price at INR 289750- 297250 per tonne, up by INR 1,250 per tonne or 0.43 per cent from INR 288,500-296,000 per tonne on April 12.

Hindalco Industries Limited has expanded its aluminium products and aluminium ingot prices, with effect from April 20, following two back-to-back cuts on April 13 and 14. As per the revised price list revealed by Hindalco, the company’s aluminium wire rod price has come in at INR 299,850 per tonne as of April 20, up by INR 8,750 per tonne or 3 per cent from INR 291,100 per tonne.
The production of primary aluminium in Japan is no more than 0.5% of the total demand of the nation. In Japan only one aluminium smelter is left out to be operational, however, the country’s per-capita consumption of aluminium has grown to around 16 kg. According to the World Bureau of Metal Statistics, the Japanese production of secondary aluminium in 2020 was around 690.2 thousand tonnes, a downfall of roughly 105.2 thousand tonnes compared to the existing year.
On Tuesday, April 19, Logan Aluminum had been successfully certified against the ASI Performance Standard for responsible aluminium production, sourcing, and stewardship by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). Altech Chemicals has arranged for a particular feasibility study for its battery materials coating plant urging the company to allot US$507 million for their proposed plant in Germany. The company declared that this specific study has revealed that a capital investment of US$95 million would be needed to develop a 10,000 tonne per annum capacity silicon-graphite alumina coating plant in Saxony.

On Thursday, April 21, Novelis, the global leader in aluminium rolling and recycling, announced its investment plan of more than $30 million for building a new continuous annealing line at its Plettenberg-Ohle facility in Germany. As per the report, the addition of new line will increase the plant’s capacity by two-fold for aluminium used in the production of coffee capsules, enabling to meet the increased demand for sustainable packaging solutions.
In January 2022 a total of 112,000 tonnes of aluminium plates, sheets and bars were imported to the United States. On a month-on-month scale, a growth of 3,000 tonnes or 2.75 per cent was witnessed. As per the USGS data, for December 2021 the total amount of aluminium plates, sheets and bars imported to the US stopped at 109,000 tonnes, which was followed by a month-on-month plunge of 10,000 tonnes or 8.40 per cent from 119,000 tonnes in November 2021.

On Thursday, April 21, China’s aluminium billet inventories plunged by 11.37 per cent W-o-W to stop at 119,100 tonnes. East China's transportation efficiency is unlikely to increase considerably in the near future, keeping stocks relatively steady. The peak season in south China drove destocking. As downstream purchasers stock up for the impending Labour Day vacation, overall inventories are projected to continue to drop.

In March 2022, China imported 120,600 tonnes of unwrought aluminium alloy, up by 54.5 per cent Y-o-Y and 31.3 per cent M-o-M, according to the China General Administration of Customs. The imports in the first quarter of 2022 totalled 329,000 tonnes, going up by 50.2 per cent, year on year.
