The former Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) chief Doni Monardo, and who is also a retired Army Lieutenant General of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Indoneisan National Military), has been appointed as President Commissioner of state-owned, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) specialized in aluminium smelting.

Doni Morando is replacing Agus Tjahajana Wirakusumah, who has been named President Commissioner of state-owned Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC).
The retired Army Lieutenant General’s dynamic encouragement towards the environment was adduced as the rationale for his appointment.
On 11th June 2021, Erick Thohir, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), said: “His concern for and his work in environmental restoration make him the appropriate figure to balance environmental efforts at Inalum and its subsidiaries, noting also that Doni had a broad network connecting many stakeholders.”
Lately, Doni has been the head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), leading the national COVID-19 pandemic.
