Development Application approved for aluminium extrusion plant at former Electrolux factory site
On Tuesday, August 18, Orange City Council approved a development application for a $4.8 million aluminium extrusion and powder coating plant on the site of the former Electrolux factory.
A-Tech Extrusion Systems, an industry leader in supplying high quality aluminium windows & doors across Sydney, wants to install equipment at the aluminium extrusion plant to produce 9,000 tonnes of finished product per year.
The applicant proposed to operate the plant 24 hours a day, 7 days a week over three shifts, and with sixty staff.
The plans to make components for:
- The construction industry including windows, doors, skylights, canopies, louvers etc.
- Transportation – automotive structural and chassis components, crash management systems electrical and energy – solar energy mounting systems, LED lighting components
- Medical and consumer durables – recreation products, home and garden tools, home appliances, medical diagnostic equipment

$3.6 million of the total fund required for the project will come from the NSW Government under the NSW Cultural Fund, $1 million from Council in its current budget, and from community fund raising, which has so far reached $220,000.
