Dadco Alumina and Chemicals Limited, a leading supplier of high-quality alumina-based products and services in Europe, has received Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification from the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative for producing smelter grade alumina and other alumina chemicals at Aluminium Oxid Stade (AOS) refinery in Stade, Germany.

However, the facility has been recognised with the certification for its entire operations, including port, administration, storage areas, and landfill in Stade.
Dadco’s AOS refinery has an annual production capacity of more than 1 million tonnes of alumina. They supply the alumina to smelters for processing into aluminium and deliver alumina chemicals for the production of flame retardants and water treatment products.
The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) certification defines environmental, social, and governance principles and criteria, aiming to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain.
The independent, third-party audit of Dadco’s AOS facility was carried out by GUTcert (AFNOR Group). Since the audit took place prior to May 31, 2023, Dadco Alumina bagged Performance Standard V2 certification.
On receiving the certification, Victor Dahdaleh, Owner and Chairman of Dadco Group, said: “Sustainability has been very much at the forefront of our strategy over the past few years. Accomplishing the ASI certification symbolises our continued commitment to this strategy and reinforces our competitiveness in the global alumina market. By producing high quality material with a lower environmental impact, we hope to add value to all of our stakeholders: our customers, suppliers and the community.”
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said: “We warmly congratulate Dadco Alumina and Chemicals Limited for achieving ASI Performance Standard Certification at its AOS refinery. The reduction of the refinery’s energy consumption through the use of tube digestion and fluidised bed calcination shows its commitment to improving energy efficiency, while the company’s Performance Standard Certification demonstrates its commitment to meeting a high bar of performance across a broad range of ESG criteria.”
In mid-2021, Dadco Alumina and Chemicals joined ASI as 175th Production and Transformation member.
