COTA to serve sustainable Ball aluminium cups throughout US Formula One Grand Pix

EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Throughout this month’s Formula One United States Grand Prix, several sustainability initiatives will be taken up by the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). The racing track would be populated with 96-gallon recycling bins and 90 per cent recycled aluminium cups provided by Ball Corporation in place of single-use plastic ones.

Aluminium is infinitely recyclable, and with aluminium cups or beverage cans, it is the easiest because no additional sorting process is required. This can induce a circular economy beneficial for the entire community and the world.

The President and General Manager of Ball Aluminium Cups, Emily Fong, exclaimed: “We are committed to bringing fans a more sustainable way to enjoy beverages as they watch their favourite sporting events.”

“By partnering with venues like [COTA] to increase the use of infinitely recyclable aluminium beverage packaging, strengthen in-venue recycling, and generate fan excitement about simple choices that enable them to live more sustainably, we know we can make a real impact on sustainability throughout the sports and entertainment industry,” she seemed excited about the collaboration.

COTA is instigating fans to contribute to the safe stewardship and recycling of aluminium and to further amplify their course toward sustainability; the racing ground would have ten water stations mounted during the event.

Anker Innovations, an electronic solutions provider, will dutifully assess the industry’s first bio-based charging cables, which can curtail petroleum-based plastic usage. These bio-based charging cables would come along with Ankar’s solar-powered charging station for fans to charge their devices.

To honour the retirement of Sebastian Vettel, the circuit has donated a lump sum amount through which an Austin-based organisation, TreeFolks, has plotted to plant almost 300 trees.

Future of Aluminium in Transportation Sector

COTA will also have vegan or non-vegan options, with the leftover being donated to the Central Texas Food Bank. In the journey toward sustainability, COTA is also urging its visitors to use public transport.
