Constellium, global aluminium rolled and extruded products manufacturer, announced on November 6 about its aluminium solution Aeral™ supply to Moravia Cans for the production of Unilever’s award-winning Dove antiperspirant aerosols.
Constellium's Aeral™ is an innovative aluminium solution designed for the production of aerosol containers using Drawn and Wall Ironing (DWI) technology that is currently used to produce beverage cans. This technology allows up to 30 percent weight savings while maintaining the same level of performance in terms of resistance to pressure and great ductility.
This unique solution teamed with Moravia Cans' packaging systems makes it possible for 20 percent more cans packed per pallet, thus, resulting in minimized truck and pallet movements while allowing end-customer Unilever to reduce its carbon footprint.
Hervé Vichery, Customer Technical Support Manager at Constellium said, "We are honored to be the first to provide DWI technology for a Personal Care aerosol that offers a wide range of operational benefits, while meeting the pressure resistance and aesthetical requirements of a cosmetics company,” while adding further, “due to the flexibility and performance level of our product, we foresee a growing demand for Aeral™ among aerosol manufacturers."
Besides, Constellium's Aeral™ is known for providing improved recycling capabilities, even compared to the already high level of standard aerosol cans, because of the use of the same alloy as that of beverage cans.
This enables companies to have a more eco-friendly supply chain and create an appeal to customers who are increasingly focused on sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
