Recycled aluminium products manufacturer Chongqing Shunbo Aluminum Co has decided to construct a 5.6 billion yuan ($868.45 million) production base in China’s eastern Anhui province, Reuters reported.

In a filing to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Shunbo inked a deal with Bowang district in the city of Maanshan for the establishment of a project with annual production of 400,000 tonnes of green aluminium, 300,000 tonnes of slab and 200,000 tonnes of aluminium bar. Aluminium products such as plate and foil can also be processed.
The project’s first phase will start production in 2023 and the second phase is scheduled to begin by the end of 2025.
China aims to recycle more aluminium to cut its environmental footprint and emissions from the energy-intensive smelting sector.
