Chinese A00 aluminium ingot price records a rise, but with no trace of input costs change

After four consecutive drops since the beginning of the month, the A00 aluminium ingot price has rebounded today, on December 10, and jumped from RMB 13,500 per tonne, as of December 7, to RMB 13,590 per tonne, Shanghai Metals Market found. This marks a growth by RMB 90 per tonne. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 13,570 per tonne to RMB 13,610 per tonne, with spot discount remaining the same at RMB 20 per tonne.

As the increase in ingot prices have touched all the major markets in China, markets in the east -Wuxi have recorded a growth of ingot price by RMB 105 per tonne to stand at RMB 13,595 per tonne and that in Hang Zhou have registered a rise by RMB 100 per tonne to clock at RMB 13,625 per tonne. The ingot prices in the south and north, on the other hand, have increased by RMB 120 per tonne and 90 per tonne to hover at RMB 13,720 per tonne and RMB 13,570 per tonne, respectively.

However, this rise in the A00 aluminium ingot price pays no tribute to the input costs as the prices of alumina, bauxite, the pre-baked, aluminium fluoride, and aluminium powder have registered no positive change but continued to remain the same. The last price change of alumina was on the 5th of December when the price dropped from RMB 3047 per tonne to RMB 3037 per tonne. Since then, the alumina price had been showing restraint.

The spot price of bauxite also showed no sign of change since the past couple of days and still hovering at RMB 570 per tonne. The pre-baked anode in the east market too remained the same at RMB 3,625 per tonne after a plunge on December 3, from RMB 3,675 per tonne to RMB 3,625 per tonne. Aluminium fluoride and aluminium powder are at RMB 11,200 per tonne and at RMB 17 per kg, respectively.
