
According to the Shanghai Metals Market, social inventories of primary aluminium have further expanded by 22,000 tonnes across eight major consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants. Thus, the stocks this week, as of March 18, have come in at 1.25 million tonnes, compared to 1.23 million tonnes on March 11. Last week, the inventories had increased by 55,000 tonnes from 1.17 million tonnes on March 4.

Primary aluminium inventories have grown the highest in Nanhai by 18,000 tonnes to come in at 332,000 tonnes on March 18, followed by the increase of 6,000 tonnes and 5,000 tonnes in Shanghai and Wuxi to 95,000 tonnes and 468,000 tonnes, respectively. In Hangzhou and Tianjin, primary aluminium inventories have gained 4,000 tonnes and 1,000 tonnes, respectively, to peg at 101,000 tonnes and 59,000 tonnes.
In Gongyi and Chongqing, primary aluminium inventories have decreased by 10,000 tonnes and 2,000 tonnes to stand at 177,000 tonne and 5,000 tonnes, while that in Linyi have remained restrained at 13,000 tonnes.
