Chinalco Materials Institute, Chinalco high-end, and Chinalco Aluminum Foil's affiliated enterprises have recently received official authorisation from the China National Intellectual Property Administration for three patents related to microcrystalline aluminium foil.
Microcrystalline aluminium foil
Microcrystalline aluminium foil represents a new generation of aluminium products with a promising future. Characterised by fine grain, uniform structure, and outstanding overall performance, its streamlined preparation method offers significant advantages such as reduced processing steps, lower costs, and enhanced efficiency. These attributes not only promise extensive applications in the realm of new energy materials but also hold potential for various products, sparking optimism for the future of the industry.
Over the past two years, Chinalco's organisation, Aluminum Materials Institute, and its subsidiaries have intensified their efforts to address key challenges in new-energy aluminium foil products. As a result, they have secured nine patents, including one international patent. These patents span various areas, including aluminium foil blank preparation, processing, production equipment, and testing methods.
This accomplishment signifies that Chinalco's aluminium foil division has established a comprehensive patent portfolio in the new-energy aluminium foil sectors, thereby providing robust technical support to strengthen Chinalco Group's core competitiveness in strategic emerging fields like new energy and new materials.
A major breakthrough unlocked
With the backing of research and development initiatives at Chinalco, Chinalco Materials Research Institute, in collaboration with Chinalco Aluminum Foil (Yunnan) Co., Ltd. and Chinalco Aluminum Foil (Luoyang) Co., Ltd., has achieved a significant breakthrough in alloy composition design and preparation processes for microcrystalline aluminium foil.
They have successfully implemented an efficient and streamlined method for preparing microcrystalline aluminium foil blanks, overcoming challenges such as microstructure segregation and inadequate nucleation particles during the preparation process. This advancement has led to the successful development of microcrystalline aluminium foil products.
The authorisation of these three invention patents is poised to accelerate microcrystalline aluminium foil's industrialisation significantly. This advancement will inject fresh momentum into the high-quality development of new energy and new materials while further solidifying Chinalco's leadership in the industrial chain of new energy aluminium foil materials. It provides essential scientific and technological support for the vision of constructing a robust "New China Aluminum" with advanced materials.
Moving forward, Chinalco Materials Institute remains steadfast in its commitment to intensifying investments in research and development, driving technological innovation, and facilitating industrial upgrades. These efforts are aimed at making substantial contributions to the advancement of China's new energy and new materials sectors, ensuring a bright and innovative future for the industry.
