
According to the Shanghai Metals Market, social inventories of primary aluminium in China have continued to shrink for the third week in a row ending December 9, 2021. Data shows the inventories have decreased by 50,000 tonnes across eight major consumption areas, including SHFE warrants, to stand at 952,000 tonnes.
Last week, on December 2, China’s primary aluminium inventories slipped 15,000 tonnes week-on-week to stand at 1 million tonnes.

In Wuxi, primary aluminium inventories have declined by 25,000 tonnes this week to stand at 378,000 tonnes versus 403,000 tonnes on December 2, while the inventories in Nanhai have slipped by 13,000 tonnes to come in at 220,000 tonnes. In Shanghai and Gongyi, primary aluminium inventories have shrunk by 8,000 tonnes and 3,000 tonnes, respectively, to peg at 86,000 tonnes and 89,000 tonnes. In Hangzhou, the inventories have dipped by 2,000 tonnes to close at 84,000 tonnes.
Meanwhile, in Tianjin, primary aluminium inventories have inched up by 1,000 tonnes to close at 69,000 tonnes as of December 9. On the other hand, in Chongqing and Linyi, inventories have remained restrained at 2,000 tonnes and 24,000 tonnes, respectively.
