
China’s social inventories of primary aluminium have declined today, on November 19, for the fifth consecutive week, although lower than the last week. Shanghai Metals Market data shows the inventories have plunged by 14,000 tonnes this week across eight major Chinese consumption areas, including SHFE warrants, to stand at 615,000 tonnes. Last Thursday, November 12, primary aluminium stocks shrank by 25,000 tonnes to come in at 629,000 tonnes.

The downfall in primary aluminium inventories today has, however, not touched upon all the major Chinese cities today except Nanhai, Wuxi, and Shanghai. While the inventories in Nanhai have declined by 12,000 tonnes over the week to 171,000 tonnes, the inventories in Wuxi and Shanghai have plunged by 9,000 tonnes and 6,000 tonnes to stand, respectively, at 167,000 tonnes and 99,000 tonnes.
In Gongyi and Tianjin, primary aluminium inventories have increased by 12,000 tonnes and 2,000 tonnes to hover at 58,000 tonnes and 45,000 tonnes, respectively, while that in Chongqing and Linyi have remained restrained at 2,000 tonnes and 5,000 tonnes.
