China's nonferrous metal output up 9.4% In Jan-Aug

The output of the ten nonferrous metals gained 9.4% from a year earlier to 33.87 million tons in the first eight months of this year, according to the latest report released by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
According to the statistics, the country's aluminium electrolytic output grew 12.2% year on year to 21.07 million tons in the eight-month period, while the output of copper, Zinc and alumina oxide expanded 8.2%, 10.1% and 11.5% over the previous year to 5.07 million tons, 4.11 million tons and 37.87 million tons, respectively. Meanwhile, the output of lead shed 4.1% year on year to 2.58 million tons during the eight-month period.
Last month, the average prices of aluminium electrolytic, Zinc and copper futures on the Shanghai Futures Exchange saw a decline to RMB 12,180, RMB 15,198 and RMB 39,422 per ton, retreated 2.5%, 2.3% and 6.0% from a month earlier, respectively. However, the price of lead futures rose 0.4% month on month to RMB 13,197 per ton.
