Celebrating creativity and dedication with aluminium cans at the 18th annual RIFA Canstruction event

On Thursday, September 28, the Carl Perkins Civic Center in downtown Jackson hosted the 18th annual RIFA Canstruction event, generously sponsored by Foundation Bank. The evening, which benefited RIFA, had sixteen participating teams. These teams sculpted with canned products, representing sustainability with materials like aluminium cans. The sculptures that won were recognised for their originality and dedication to this philanthropic objective.

Conner Real Estate, Jackson Energy Authority, Delta Faucet Company, Jackson State Community College, etc., are some of the organisations among those sixteen competing teams. They exhibited the diversity that aluminium has in every spectrum of life. From designing to aerospace, from arts to science, aluminium is present in the realm, embracing sustainability and eco-friendliness. 

The event's climax, the sculpture competition, was characterised by fierce creativity and ingenuity. Following a thorough examination, the following individuals were named winners, each for their distinctive contributions to this noble cause:

• People's Choice Award — Delta Faucet: Acknowledging the sculpture most favoured by the event's attendees, reflecting its widespread appeal.

• Honourable Mention — Jackson Energy Authority: Commending a sculpture with notable distinction and merit while not capturing the top spot.
• Spotlight Award — Fellowship Bible Church: Recognising the sculpture that captured attention and showcased exceptional artistic or thematic prominence.
• Best Original Design — First United Methodist Church: Celebrating the team that demonstrated the highest levels of creativity and originality in their sculpture's concept and execution.
• Most Cans — LyondellBasell: Honoring the team that impressively employed the greatest number of canned food items in their sculpture, contributing generously to the charitable cause.
• Best Meal — Delta Faucet: Applauding the artistic representation of a complete meal created using canned food items, demonstrating innovation in design and execution.

The event recognised the participating teams' exceptional achievements and exhibited a deep dedication to RIFA's essential goal.
