
Metalex has announced an investment of 50 million Reais ($9.3 million) to expand scrap treatment and extrusion billet production capacity, Fastmarkets MB reported. The expansion plan is divided in to two phases.

Metalex, an industrial aluminium recycling unit in Araçariguama, is fully owned by Brazilian producer Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA)
The recycling unit will initially install a side well furnace to boost billet capacity by 15,000 tonnes per year to 90,000 tonnes per year. The current aluminium billets capacity stands at 75,000 tonnes per year. The second phase will include new recycling line to raise scrap usage to 80% from 60%.
Metalex became part of the CBA since October 2010. The Unit also produce a variety of standard, special and premium alloys for various sectors. c
