Sculpted using marine-grade aluminium, the speaker known as Cast stands as a towering testament to design innovation. Assembled in a totem-like fashion, its top-heavy structure houses four powerful loudspeaker elements, delivering a formidable sound experience. Weighing a substantial 45kg and towering at 80cm, Cast commands attention with its physical presence, matched only by its mighty audio performance.

Presented as part of Fereday's latest exhibition, 'Aver', in the vibrant neighbourhood of Fitzroy, Melbourne, Cast commands attention alongside the designer's eclectic collection. His recent creations include avant-garde lighting installations and meticulously crafted cast metal furniture pieces.

Cast isn't just a speaker; it's a monolithic masterpiece born from the marriage of Fereday's visionary design and Pitt & Giblin's expertise in audio craftsmanship. This powerful collaboration has yielded a speaker that not only delivers exceptional sound quality but also serves as a striking statement piece in any space. The value and expertise behind the Cast speaker are a testament to the dedication and skill of these two renowned names in their respective fields.

About the speaker

A digital amplifier and signal processing unit are embedded within the stand, cleverly integrated to enhance functionality while maintaining Cast's aesthetic integrity. The deliberately marked and scuffed aluminium surface adds to its sense of weight and scale, evoking a raw yet refined aesthetic.

The collaborative effort behind Cast involved the expertise of Jack Pitt and Ross Giblin, distinguished loudspeaker builders from Hobart, Tasmania. With two decades of experience, Pitt & Giblin's craftsmanship shines through in every detail of Cast, reflecting their commitment to excellence in bespoke audio engineering.

Displayed within 'Aver,' a solo installation showcasing Tom Fereday's diverse portfolio, Cast emerges as a standout piece among a symphony of materials. From aluminium and solid bronze to travertine marble, cast glass, and glazed lava stone, Fereday's mastery of materials creates an immersive sensory experience. Although born in Australia, Fereday's upbringing in London, where he pursued his studies, greatly influenced his design sensibilities. Establishing his solo studio in 2012, Fereday continues to push boundaries and redefine contemporary design through his bold and innovative creations.

In pieces like the Cove chair, Tom Fereday deftly substitutes recycled cast aluminium for traditional wood, creating a captivating interplay between the ordinary and the meticulously crafted, reshaping our perception of everyday objects. With the Cast speaker, Fereday takes this approach to new heights, transcending the auditory realm by translating sound into tangible physical form.
