During 2024 and 2025, the US alcoholic beverage market experienced dynamic shifts, marked by rising demand for premium spirits, flavoured beers, and the sustained popularity of ready-to-drink (RTD) options, especially among younger, health-conscious consumers.
Tapping into these trends, Caribe Cooler, one of Mexico’s leading RTD alcoholic beverage brands, is set to make a bold entry into the US market.
The launch begins in Southern California, a strategic region in the brand’s global expansion. With over 37 years of heritage and cultural resonance in Mexico, Caribe Cooler is cherished for its bold fruit flavours and laid-back appeal. US consumers will enjoy 12 oz 4-pack aluminium cans featuring two signature flavours, namely Peach and Tropical (Mango-Pineapple), each with 4.7 per cent ABV and priced at $9.99 USD.
Caribe Cooler’s debut also highlights an increasingly efficient cross-border aluminium can supply chain. In 2024, Mexico exported USD 135 million worth of aluminium cans to the United States, led by producers like Crown Holdings, Ball Corporation, and Envases Universales. Their large-scale facilities in Monterrey, Yucatán, and Hidalgo contribute billions of cans annually, helping brands like Caribe Cooler ensure fast, just-in-time delivery. Proximity, reduced logistics costs, and tariff resilience make Mexico a vital supply partner for US beverage brands.
At the same time, Caribe Cooler enters a market supported by a robust domestic packaging ecosystem. The US can-production industry manufactures approximately 130.7 billion cans per year, supports over 28,000 jobs across 33 states, and contributes around USD 15.7 billion in direct economic activity. Beverage consumption alone accounts for more than 106 billion cans annually, with total can usage across food, beverage, and other sectors nearing 180 billion units. Leading US-based suppliers like Ball, Crown, and Silgan Containers play a pivotal role in this high-volume landscape.

Globally, the momentum behind aluminium cans continues to surge. Aluminium beverage can usage rose from 343 billion units in 2015 to 416 billion in 2020, and is projected to reach 627 billion units by 2030. The global aluminium cans market, valued at USD 55.5 billion in 2023, is expected to grow to USD 78.9 billion by 2030, expanding at a CAGR of 5.15 per cent during the forecast period. This growth underscores the increasing preference for sustainable, lightweight, and infinitely recyclable packaging solutions.
Caribe Cooler joins a growing wave of beverage innovations utilising aluminium cans. Recent market entrants include Pepsi’s limited-edition Mini cans, VulCan Packaging’s advanced aTULC technology cans, and Moment’s botanical-infused drinks, all showcasing the versatility of aluminium as a sustainable, high-performance packaging choice. Complementing this momentum, the recycling initiative Every Can Counts has launched its US chapter, aiming to boost aluminium can recycling rates and raise consumer awareness nationwide.
In essence, Caribe Cooler’s US launch is more than just a brand expansion it reflects shifting consumer tastes, an integrated regional supply chain, and growing alignment with global aluminium packaging trends and sustainability goals, all within a highly competitive and innovation-driven beverage landscape.
