Canyon Resources Limited recently announced that Peter Secker has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, effective from July 1, 2025. Peter Secker has over 40 years of experience in global mining. He has previously served as a strategic advisor to the Minim Martap Bauxite Project of central Cameroon, a large-scale, high-grade bauxite deposit being developed by Canyon Resources.

Mr Secker is expected to guide Canyon through its transition from development to production of the first bauxite shipment, which is expected to commence in the first half of 2026. This particular development is expected to make a significant contribution to the aluminium industry by providing a reliable and high-quality source of bauxite, a key ingredient in aluminium production. The transition in the leadership is seen as a pivotal role in achieving the goal for Canyon to become a reliable and effective supplier of bauxite.
Peter Secker has built a reputation within the industry over a long period, working on a wide spectrum of resource-intensive projects. Previously, he was the CEO of Bacanora Lithium Plc from 2015 to 2023. Some of the key projects he has handled include the Sonora Lithium Project, which was one of the world's first and largest lithium development projects.

In January 2025, Canyon reported that it completed Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling and Diamond drilling programme at its Minim Martap Bauxite Project in Cameroon.By the first half of 2025, the results of the drilling programmes are expected to be released, supporting the feasibility study of the Minim Martap Bauxite Project.
