BMW Motorrad has finally revealed its custom BMW R18 Magnifica cruiser at Top Marques Monaco. The BMW R18 Magnifica is reportedly built entirely of aluminium, mahogany wood, and brass, with a custom-built frame and billet aluminium wheels. This massive and powerful motorbike was commissioned by Officine Riunite Milanesi and built by Andrea Radaelli of Radikal Chopper.
For the final design of the R18 Magnifica, the designer claimed to have drawn influence from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s vintage bikes. According to the motorbike manufacturer, this one-of-a-kind creation has an exceptional appeal that few current motorcycles can match.
“The bike has to be my own creation. I don’t feel like dredging up or modifying a concept already set up and done very well by others. Vintage bikes from the 1920s, 30s and 40s bikes served as inspiration, particularly the early BMW R37, for their “incredible charm that even many modern motorbikes cannot replicate,” said Radaelli.
Not only does the R18 Magnifica look amazing, but because its weight has been decreased to 260 kilos, all of these upgrades have objectively enhanced the bike (573 pounds). When compared to the donor bike, that's a substantial weight loss of 85 kg (187 lbs). The one-piece suspension on the tail and seat is also noteworthy, as is the mahogany rear end with a polished stainless steel centre portion.
The billet aluminium wheels are one of the few parts of the BMW R18 Magnifica that aren't handcrafted. They do, however, have a hand-carved appearance. The disc brakes and callipers on the wheels were made specifically for this one-of-a-kind model.
