{alcircleadd}China, Philippines, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States are considered the highest potential markets in the coming years. China, France, Germany, Italy and the United States represent the largest aluminium profile, bar and rod markets while the strongest annual growth is forecast to occur in the United Kingdom (19.6%), Philippines (15.5%), Ukraine (13.7%), Vietnam (9.0%) and China (7.6%).
According to the global export-import data, aluminium bar rods and profiles imports by Belgium have been seeing a year-on-year growth for the past few years. In 2016, the import volume was at 124,427 tonnes, which in 2017 increased 5 per cent to 130,850 tonnes. This year, as well, is expected to continue seeing the growth to 132,531 tonnes by the end of the year, up 7 per cent from 2016 and 1.28 per cent from 2017.

But despite the growth in import volume, the cost is likely to drop year-on-year. In 2016, Belgium’s aluminium bar rods and profiles import cost at US$305 million, which in next year decreased to US$ 301 million, down 1.3 per cent despite a 5 per cent growth in volume. In 2018, the import cost slipped further to US$295 million, 3.27 per cent lesser than 2016 and 2 per cent lesser than 2017.

Germany is expected to be the top supplier of aluminium bar rods and profiles in 2018, supplying 25,298 tonnes, followed by Spain 14662 tonnes and Italy 10,651 tonnes.
