
A high delegation from Line 6 EPCM contractor for Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C., International Bechtel Co. Ltd. (Bechtel), led by its President and Chief Operations Officer Jack Futcher and President for Mining & Metals Paige Wilson paid a visit to the office of Alba’s Board of Directors Chairman, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa on Wednesday September 20, 2017. The delegates discussed about the progress of the Line 6 Expansion Project. After the discussion with them, the Chairman of Alba’s Board of Directors issued a statement announcing that the pouring of its First Hot Metal (FHM) will take place by January 01, 2019.

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the Bahrain-based international aluminium smelter, is taking solid steps in building its present and future portfolio with the development of its Line 6 Expansion Project. The statement was made after third quarterly meeting for 2017 held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
The quarterly meeting was also attended by Alba’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Murray, Deputy CEO and Chief Supply Chain Officer Ali Al Baqali, Line 6 Project Director Shawqi Al Hashmi, Bechtel’s Line 6 Director Denis Garrity and Bechtel’s General Manager Shane Hall.
Commenting on this meeting and the progress of Bechtel’s work, Alba’s Chairman of Board of Directors Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa said:
“We are very pleased to see that Line 6 site is brimming with all kinds of activities. The overall project progress to date exceeded 25% (wherein engineering progressed more than 50% while contracts and procurement advanced by more than 75%). We are also confident that Bechtel will expedite the safe delivery of the First Hot Metal, as per target, by 01 January 2019.”
