Ghana Bauxite Company Limited (GBC) has appointed Ecobank Ghana PLC to arrange up to USD 250 million in financing for its expansion programme, which aims to increase bauxite production and improve mining and logistics infrastructure. The parties signed the agreement in Accra on October 28, 2026. Ecobank will structure the proposed financing and coordinate participation from other banks and financial institutions. The package includes a term loan and a revolving credit facility to cover capital investment and working capital. Jamaican Government is to take $1.8 billion from the Capital Development Fund, $1.4 billion of which is to be used for budgetary support. "We are currently in discussions with potential partners in CAP which is aimed at taking CAP off the Government's accounts totally by the end of this calendar year," Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips told Parliament on Tuesday. Cape Alumina says it has now discovered an estimated 200 million tonnes of bauxite during exploration on Cape York in far north Queensland. The Nawailevu landowners of Bua in Fiji's northern island will receive over 600,000 Fiji dollars ($340, 000) next year in relation to bauxite mining after receiving their first lump sum payment from a Chinese company earlier this year.
