Barclays: Aluminum primary output rises to 70.2 Ktd in July

Prices were softer across the base metals yesterday as a mixed set of Chinese trade combined with on-going macro concerns weighed on the market. In terms of metalsspecific developments, the latest production data from the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) showed that the daily global average primary output (excluding China) rose to 70.2Ktd in July. This represented a 6% y/y increase, in-line with the average size of y/y increase seen so far this year and marginally higher than the monthly average daily production rate during H1 this year (69.7Ktd).
