Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a prominent figure in India’s aluminium industry, has forged a strategic partnership with Shree Cement Limited. This alliance aims to revolutionise cement production by harnessing the power of fly ash, a by-product with immense potential for environmental benefit.
{alcircleadd}BALCO’s recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shree Cement Limited marks a significant milestone in sustainable industrial practices. Under this agreement, BALCO will supply 90,000 metric tonnes of fly ash to Shree Cement, enabling the production of low-carbon cement. Fly ash, a residue of thermal power generation holds promise as a valuable resource in the quest for eco-friendly cement production.
By diverting fly ash from landfills and utilising it in cement manufacturing, BALCO and Shree Cement are paving the way for resource efficiency and waste reduction. This not only mitigates environmental impact but also fosters economic sustainability through responsible resource management.
The utilisation of fly ash in cement production yields manifold benefits for the environment. Notably, it can significantly reduce carbon emissions, conserve energy, and conserve water resources. With each tonne of fly ash used, approximately 500 kg of carbon emissions, 3.2 million GJ of energy, and 250 litres of water can be saved.
Beyond its role in cement production, fly ash finds applications across diverse sectors, including brick manufacturing, road construction, infrastructure projects, and agriculture. BALCO’s commitment to supplying fly ash to various industries defines its dedication to maximising resource efficiency and promoting sustainable practices across multiple domains.
