
The average A00 aluminium ingot price surged on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, to close at RMB 14640 per tonne after a fall on the previous day from RMB 14550 per tonne to RMB 14520 per tonne, according to Shanghai Metal Market (SMM). The prices are expected to range within RMB 14620 per tonne to RMB 14660 per tonne, with spot discounts remaining same at RMB 70 per tonne to RMB 30 per tonne.

Tight supply in the Chinese market due to fewer deliveries to warehouses could be a reason for the price surge. Shanghai Metal Exchange (SME) also registered a price rise from US$ 2266 per tonne to US$ 2289 per tonne on June 6. Besides, the aluminium price across the globe had been on the upswing since long.
While the east saw a significant price growth of aluminium ingot from RMB 14530 per tonne to RMB 14645 per tonne, the south registered a robust rise from RMB 14625 per tonne to RMB 14765 per tonne, after a marginal fall last day from RMB 14635 per tonne to RMB 14625 per tonne. In the north, on the other hand, the average A00 aluminium ingot price rose from RMB 14530 per tonne to RMB 14630 per tonne today, on June 6, 2018.

The alumina spot price, according to SMM, stood at RMB 2998 per tonne, as it has been since June 1. No changes in the alumina spot prices were seen on June 6 across all the major Chinese markets.
And as far as the raw material, neither aluminium alloys nor pre-baked anode and aluminium fluoride displayed any changes in the prices on June 6. They are hovering at RMB 15800 per tonne, RMB 3235 per tonne, and RMB 9100 per tonne respectively.
