EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Noah Deledda co-founded Crushmetric, a design and production company with offices in Ybor City, Berlin, Hong Kong, and Singapore, to share his aesthetic and design breakthroughs with the world. With the Autohedron Chair from Crushmetric, Noah Deledda broadens his investigation beyond the craft of crushing aluminium soda cans. The prototype chair was made using crushed aluminium cans.

"I finished my drink and partially crushed the empty can. Out of boredom, I played with the deformation. I could tell that there was something interesting to discover so I continued experimenting," stated Noah Deledda.

This experimentation resulted in many aluminium can-based kinetic artworks. Deledda moved to combine "the art of smashing" cans with product design, but he didn't stop there. Using a similar kinetic method, Crushmetric announced its newest product in January 2023, dispelling any doubts about the applicability of this technology to bigger items. Their latest attempt into furniture design, the "Autohedron Chair," was designed from recyclable aluminium cans.

"I make sculptures by scratching and denting aluminium cans using only my hands. I use flaws, scratches and dents, in a method to create beauty. I create art by accident but not by mistake. You can't force the shapes to happen. You have to discover what the cylinder will allow and take it from there," shared Deledda.

In January 2022, they released SwitchPen, a ballpoint pen that can change form by flicking a switch. The pen attracted notice on numerous social media sites, as people gushed over how perfectly it moved piqued people's interest in how it worked.
