On Saturday, February 17, a major fire erupted in a company situated at Kudalwadi near Chikhali, triggered by a furnace overheating. As per the reports, the company is known for manufacturing aluminium sulfate and magnesium sulfate dust. On the day of the accident, the workers had been loading aluminium sulfate and magnesium sulfate powder into the furnace when an unexpected surge in temperature occurred. On Monday, February 19, China’s A00 aluminium ingot price dropped by RMB 90 per tonne to arrive at RMB 18,820 per tonne, with the average prices between RMB 18,800 per tonne and RMB 18,840 per tonne. The spot contract prices may be traded at a premium price of RMB 0 to RMB 40 per tonne. As per the SMM data, the prices have shown a fall in all the provinces, with the highest in Gongyi, where it has dropped by RMB 120 per tonne to settle at RMB 18,720 per tonne.
