Tenfold growth in Russian aluminium exports to $7.4 billion in July 2021, shows Federal Customs Service
The Russian aluminum shipment abroad experienced a tenfold surge in July, says the data recorded by the Federal Customs Service. Compared to the year 2020 for the same period, the July exports amounted to $7.4 billion, meaning that the July exports surpassed three million tonnes. Previously this year, the Russian authorities had imposed a 15 percent tax or a minimum of $254 per tonne for the aluminum exports between August and December. The tariffs also target the foreign sales of ferrous and non-ferrous products like copper, nickel, aluminum, metals and metal products. Three-month LME aluminium won 3.23 percent to close at US$2,927.5 per tonne in the overnight trading last Friday, with open interest losing 114 lots to 648,000 lots. On Friday, September 10, LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price climbed by US$79.5 per tonne or 2.82 per cent to come in at US$2,896 per tonne and US$2,896.50 per tonne, respectively. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price were at US$2,906 per tonne and US$2,907 per tonne. Alumina production in China edges 1.58% higher M-o-M to 6.39 million tonnes during August 2021
In August 2021, the alumina production in China came in at 6.39 million tonnes after increasing by 1.58 per cent month-on-month from 6.29 million tonnes, founded the Shanghai Metals Market.
